Does the shading at the top of the windshield that comes from the factory also come along with those after market windshields?

You can buy an after market windshield with no shading at the top…although you really dont want to do that. And you can also buy the replacement windshield with light, medium and factory type shade density. So the choice is up to you, more shade usually costs more but worth it in my opinion. It really helps to cut the sun’s glare in your eyes!

Reader Input I was surfing online as I normally do, and found this site. I did get a quote from the banner listed on this page and found a company that I had contacted by telephone last week….their price was lower today.
I called them and asked them why the $55 price drop in a week? They said they have special pricing agreements with this site and offer a discount via that banner. I am not sure why they would do that, seems it would cost them more money, but I did get my windshield installed for the lower price…..so it pays to shop around. Thanks for this service you are offering for free.

Reader Question How did you guys get comparison rate quotes on auto glass and windshields? is there a list of windshield replacement companies or something that you used? I have a 2001 Chevy truck that needs a new windshield and I am on a super tight budget, any help will be appreciated.

Welcome Henry. make your quote search easy and use the banner on this site to get comparison quotes in your area. its about the easiest way I know of to shop for auto glass. just enter your zip, and select the make and model of your truck and thats it. You will see a list of auto glass companies within 20 miles of your zip code, with prices. Most if not all of them offer free mobile installation. I would expect to pay about $169 for a Chevy truck replacement windshield.

Reader Question Does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap BMW replacement windshield? The dealership wants an arm and a leg for a new one, so I was hoping to find an aftermarket replacement windshield.

Hey there, I would definitely stay clear of the BMW dealership for a new windshield…they are way to proud of their auto glass. I was able to get a BMW replacement windshield for my 2007 Z3, and it only cost me $489 with free installation, which was nice. I am in Miami, so the guys I used will not help you in Houston, but I see banners for glass.net on this site…and I hear they are a great place to start your quote search.

Reader Question I guess I am the lucky one on this site. My Ford F150 windshield was hit with a small rock the other day, and my mechanic told me that it was too large of a crack to repair….but I took it to Deep Ellum auto glass in Dallas, TX and they were able to repair it without a problem. Reader Question I really don’t have a question as much as a comment about windshield replacement services. I too thought I could get my Honda Accord windshield crack repaired, but it was evidently too big of a crack for them to properly repair….so I had to get a new Honda windshield installed.
I wanted to concur with others on this site, that the service that is recommended here was super easy….offered the cheapest quotes I found on the net, and they had nice free mobile installation service. So if you need a new windshield or any type of auto glass installed on your car, I highly recommend this service.

Reader Input I just found this site, and saw a post for auto glass and windshield replacement prices. I just wanted to say that the price I was quoted from the banner on this site was about the same as other sites I got prices from…but I got free mobile installation. I live in the South side of Dallas TX, and it was very nice to have someone come to my office and replace the windshield in my 2003 BMW while I sat inside and did my work.

Reader Question How long of crack in my car windshield can be repaired? I have a pretty long jagged crack about 3 inches long..is that too long for the repair guys to work with or can they still do a good job of repairing the crack that long?

Cracks and chips up to six inches can be repaired by a windshield repair kit, however the experts can repair cracks and chips up to twenty four inches.
A windshield repair can quickly and easily save you the expense of replacing the entire windshield. Cracked windshields can also let in moisture, which can cause hidden corrosive rust to form on the underlying steel and compromise the adhesive bond of the glass to the vehicle. What looks fine from the outside may be a disaster forming underneath.

Reader Question My car windshield was just cracked by a small rock or something that flew up from a big truck in front of me…I am pissed! Can all cracks be repaired or do some cracks require a new windshield to be installed? I want to go the cheapest route possible.

Windshield repair is the more viable and economical option as compared to windshield replacement, which can be much more expensive. Keeping your automobile windshield from being damaged is very hard to do, however they can be easily repaired with a windshield repair kit.
Windshield repair is a great alternative to complete windshield replacement. However, only a competent technician will be able to tell you whether you need a replacement or a simple repair, you might want to try repairing it and see what happens…most repair jobs are less than $35.
